No family tree until the first pairings
The first founders are here and in quarantine; the rest of the 24 (20 unrelated lines plus 3 controls) come with Round 1 of the Founders' Fund. The family tree starts with the first pairings, years from now. In the meantime, you can watch the founders live.
Back the Founders' FundWhy the pedigree matters
It lets visitors follow the history of individual animals.
It helps the project preserve genetic diversity while selecting for behavior. Selection pressure on one trait is only useful if the underlying population stays healthy and varied, which is why multiple unrelated family lines are maintained rather than breeding everything back to the single most surface-active animal.
